Local solar installation company, Cape Fear Solar Systems recently became a ChargePoint Certified Installer. ChargePoint is currently the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network. Today, more than 2,726,215,601 electric miles have been driven on the ChargePoint Network. Both Cape Fear Solar Systems and ChargePoint have been operating since 2007.

Robert Parker, senior project manager and commercial solar developer for Cape Fear Solar Systems received his ChargePoint certification, bringing both residential and commercial customers more EV charging options. “ChargePoint is a leading electric vehicle charging network and we are excited to provide this option to Southeastern, NC,” Parker stated and went on to say, “We do a lot of product research and staff training before we make products available to customers. Certifications ensure the installation company knows every aspect of the product and installation process.” Along with several other staff members at Cape Fear Solar, Parker is also NABCEP certified, which is the highest achievement in the solar industry.

Cape Fear Solar Systems is no stranger to the EV Charging installation process as they have been installing Tesla EV Chargers for several years now. All EV Chargers installed by Cape Fear Solar are overseen by an in-house licensed master electrician. The company has already installed nearly 50 in-home chargers and expects to install hundreds more over the next couple of years as well as dozens of commercial charging stations.

Plug-in electric vehicles came on the market in 2010 and over 1.4 million have sold since. The city of Wilmington currently has 64 public charging stations of which 3 are free. The city of Raleigh has 403 public charging stations of which 33 are free. Despite the pandemic, global sales of electric cars rose by 43% while overall car sales slumped by a fifth last year.

For anyone considering adding an EV Charger for their residence or business, it is critical that the installer is certified. Cape Fear Solar Systems is a certified ChargePoint and Tesla installer serving North Carolina customers along the coast and the Triangle area.
