Cape Fear Solar Systems Donates Solar Power to Local Zero-Waste Music Festival.

Sustain with Sound Music & Arts Festival to be Powered by Solar Energy.

On April 27, 2019 what’s being called the most sustainable and entertaining event Wilmington has ever seen will take place, The Sustain with Sound Music and Arts Festival—presented by Pineapple Entertainment. The festival founder and director of operations, Katy Nickel reached out to Cape Fear Solar Systems in hopes that they could come up with a clean energy solution to make the festival even more sustainable than past years.

Robert Parker, senior project manager and commercial solar project developer for Cape Fear Solar Systems, understood Nickel’s vision and knew solar could make the event even more sustainable. Cape Fear Solar purchased KWHCoin so that the entire festival will be powered by solar panels.  KWHCoin is a blockchain-based community, ecosystem and cryptocurrency backed by units of clean, renewable energy. Girard Newkirk, founder and CEO of KWHCoin, says, “the strategy of KWHCoin is to build a global network of renewable energy nodes to provide the physical and virtual assets for its blockchain to aggregate and collaborate the global renewable energy assets.”

“The event is environmentally focused and
family friendly. I am excited we can support a great cause and further educate
our community about solar energy,” explains Parker. “At first, I was not sure
how we could supply solar power for such a large event. I did some research and
purchasing KWHCoin proved to be a great option. I met with the CEO of KWHCoin and
he helped me purchase solar offset credits to power the entire festival,” Parker
concluded.

Cape Fear
Solar staff will be present at the event to answer questions about the solar
process such as financial benefits, environmental impacts, and current solar incentives.

“We are so
grateful to have Cape Fear Solar Systems helping us with an alternative for our
energy output for the day. We wanted a local and reliable solar company be a
part of Sustain with Sound, and they are the perfect fit. Having them at the
event to educate and communicate with the public will be extremely beneficial
as well,” Nickel stated. “The Sustain with Sound Music and Arts
Festival is a zero-waste event using only compostable or recyclable
objects, eliminating all single use plastic, and entirely powered through solar
technology donated by Cape Fear Solar,” Nickel concludes.
