30% Federal Tax Credit
Eligible homeowners can apply 30% of the cost of the installation of their EV charger (up to $1,000) as a tax credit in their federal income taxes.

Duke Energy Prep Credit
Receive up to $1,133 per charger through Duke Energy's Prep Credit program towards the cost of your EV charger's:

Duke Energy EV Charger Rental
Don't want to buy a charger outright? Duke Energy's Charger Solution program offers customers a 36-month term rental of a residential Level 2 EV charger for their home, including the cost of:
- Installation
- Warranty
- Maintenance*
How to Get Started
- Click "Start the Process Now" below.
- A new browser tab will open with Duke Energy's EV Charger Prep Credit Application. Enter your contact information, with the address of the property where you want the EV charger installed.
- Enter your 12-digit Duke Energy account number associated with the property.
- Upload your state vehicle registration of the electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle matching the address of the Duke Energy account.
- Select the applicable scenario:
- You are providing your own Level 2 EV charger (and enter its associated details). CFSS will install any UL-certified EV chargers provided by customers.
- You are wanting to rent a charger from Duke Energy via the Charger Solution Program (and select the model you'd like to rent).
- You are wanting purchase and maintain your own charger (CFSS will provide the charger and include it in the invoice).
- Select Cape Fear Solar Systems as your contractor and the best phone number to reach you.
- Click "Submit."
Duke Energy will earmark your account as eligible for the prep credit and/or rental program and provide us with the information you filled out. Our team will then contact you with the next steps.
