Duke Energy Prep Credit

Get a credit up to $1,113 to help cover the costs of preparing your home or garage for a Level 2 EV charger to be installed:

  • Conduit
  • Wiring
  • Panel upgrades
  • Breaker installation

Duke Energy EV Charger Solution

Don’t want to buy a charger outright? Lease a Level 2 charger for one low monthly fee, including the cost of:

  • Installation
  • Warranty
  • Maintenance*

*Conduit, wiring, or other work to prepare your home for the charger is not covered.

How to Get Started

  1. Click “Start the Process Now” below.
  2. A new browser tab will open with Duke Energy’s EV Charger Prep Credit Application. Enter your contact information, with the address of the property where you want the EV charger installed.
  3. Enter your 12-digit Duke Energy account number associated with the property.
  4. Upload your state vehicle registration of the electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle matching the address of the Duke Energy account.
  5. Select the applicable scenario:
    • You are providing your own Level 2 EV charger (and enter its associated details). CFSS will install any UL-certified EV chargers provided by customers.
    • You are wanting to rent a charger from Duke Energy via the Charger Solution Program (and select the model you’d like to rent).
    • You are wanting purchase and maintain your own charger (CFSS will provide the charger and include it in the invoice).
  6. Select Cape Fear Solar Systems as your contractor and the best phone number to reach you.
  7. Click “Submit.”
Duke Energy will earmark your account as eligible for the prep credit and/or rental program and provide us with the information you filled out. Our team will then contact you with the next steps.
